Which calculation method should I use?

Choose the method used by mosques in your region: ISNA for North America, MWL (Muslim World League) for Europe and most of the world, Umm Al-Qura for Saudi Arabia, Egyptian Authority for Africa and Middle East, or Karachi for Pakistan and South Asia. When in doubt, ask your local imam or use the method that matches your community's prayer schedule.

What's the difference between Hanafi and Shafi Asr time?

The Hanafi school calculates Asr when an object's shadow equals twice its length plus its noon shadow. The Shafi (also Maliki and Hanbali) method uses when the shadow equals the object's length plus its noon shadow. This typically results in Hanafi Asr being 45-75 minutes later than Shafi Asr. Choose based on your madhab (school of thought).

We use IP-based geolocation which estimates your location from your internet connection. VPNs, proxy servers, or mobile data can affect accuracy. If your detected city is wrong, use the 'Change Location' option to manually enter your city or coordinates for accurate prayer times.

Do prayer times work offline?

Yes! If our online API is unavailable, the calculator automatically falls back to local calculation using the PrayTimes.js library. Your last used location and preferences are saved, so times continue to work even without an internet connection.

What is the countdown timer showing?

The countdown shows the time remaining until the next prayer. It automatically updates every second and switches to the following prayer once the current one begins. The current/next prayer is highlighted in the prayer times grid.

How do I change my location?

Click the 'Change Location' button or the edit icon next to your city name. You can search for any city worldwide, or enter exact latitude and longitude coordinates for precise calculation.

What times are shown for Fajr and Isha?

Accepted Answer

Fajr time shown is when the fast begins (Imsak) and when Fajr prayer time enters. Isha time is when the Isha prayer begins. The specific times depend on your chosen calculation method, which uses different sun angles (typically 15-19.5 degrees below horizon for Fajr).
